Radiofrequency Microneedling:
The Procedure
Radiofrequency microneedling, or RF microneedling, is an innovative twist on a classic cosmetic treatment. It combines two different technologies, which significantly boosts its ability to rejuvenate your skin.
RF microneedling incorporates the ultrafine pinpricks of a classic microneedling procedure with the delivery of radiofrequency waves that create heat in the deep layers of your skin. The heat from the radio waves and the controlled injury of the microneedles work together to stimulate your body’s natural healing process and increase production of new collagen and elastin.
The result is blemish-free skin that is smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking than can be obtained with either method alone. See the before & after photos.
What Does RF Microneedling Treat?
RF microneedling can treat a wide variety of skin concerns on the face and body. You may be a good candidate for radiofrequency microneedling treatments if you have:
- Early signs of aging
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Saggy skin
- Scars caused by acne, burns, or other trauma
- Stretch marks
- Sun damage
- Large pores
RF microneedling is safe and effective for people of all skin types and colors. It is safe to perform anywhere on the body, and at any time of the year.
Radiofrequency Microneedling FAQs

Microneedling in Sarasota, FL
At SA Aesthetics in Sarasota, Florida, we use Potenza™ radiofrequency microneedling.
Microneedles are used to create tiny punctures in the skin, through which radiofrequency waves are delivered deep into the skin. The combination of the controlled microneedle injury and electromagnetic energy from the radio waves work together to safely and effectively regenerate skin tissue.
Chemical peels, like most anti-aging treatments, target the uppermost layer of your skin. However, with radiofrequency microneedling, we are able to stimulate natural cellular turnover deep in the skin, which produces more dramatic results in fewer treatments.
A treatment should not be painful. Most clients report no discomfort, although some feel mild heat or pressure during the procedure. We apply a numbing cream before beginning to ensure you remain as comfortable as possible throughout the treatment.
Treatment times may vary, depending on the area of the body being treated, as well as your specific penetration depth and number of passes. In most cases, treatment takes less than an hour.
You may experience some redness and pinpoint bleeding in the area treated, but you should be able to return to your usual routine immediately after your treatment.
In most cases, 3-5 treatments are required to see the desired results. Of course, your treatment plan will depend on your specific goals and the current condition of your skin.
Because effects are the result of new collagen and elastin growth, this takes time – anywhere from 4-6 weeks after treatment. Optimal results occur about 12 weeks after your final treatment. The number of passes and penetration depth will affect your results.
In general, most clients of ours begin to notice great results after their second treatment, and the best results about 3 months after their final treatment. After your initial series of treatments, you may want to come back once or twice a year to maintain your results.
The cost will depend on your specific skin concerns and goals.
